New Program Showcases New Orleans Music

New Orleans Live Debuts This Fall

In an effort to export New Orleans’ greatest natural resource to a worldwide audience, a local production team

is launching a one hour music program called “New Orleans Live.” This latest venture will build on the team’s

previous success with Louisiana Jukebox, a one hour music show featuring three bands performing live in

front of a studio audience. In its heyday, Louisiana Jukebox reached over eight million homes on cable and

small to medium sized broadcast television stations in the southeast region during its eight year run from 1996

through 2004.

“There’s no reason I can think of why New Orleans shouldn’t be home to a top notch music show” said Ernest

Collins, Creator and Executive Producer of Louisiana Jukebox and New Orleans Live. “We are known as the

birthplace of Jazz, home to several world renowned music festivals, and we’ve produced more than our share of

great musicians.”

“As our hospitality industry continues to grow we have to develop new strategies to reach a global audience of

potential new visitors to New Orleans”, said Stephen Perry, President of the Metropolitan New Orleans

Convention & Visitors Bureau. “A program like New Orleans Live promotes the essence of the New Orleans

experience.”

Collins cites the success of shows like Austin City Limits as an example of the worldwide branding and

promotion he hopes to accomplish with New Orleans Live.

OffBeat Magazine, a monthly music publication considered the bible of Louisiana music is partnering with

New Orleans Live/Louisiana Jukebox as a way of preserving the rich musical history of the region. Digital

clips from the library of 310 one hour LA Jukebox shows will be available on Offbeat.com. “As someone who

has helped develop and nurture our local music economy, I couldn’t be more excited that we’ll soon have a

program that does justice to our incredible musicians”, said Jan Ramsey, publisher of OffBeat.

New Orleans Live will be produced weekly in front of a live audience at a major downtown New Orleans

venue. The show will feature local, regional, and some nationally known musical artists, and celebrity hosts

from television and film to ensure the program has wide appeal.

New Orleans Live producers are launching a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo beginning 5/1/2015 to

help raise the budget for the initial 13 week season. Contributors will receive unique perks providing rare

access to both musical artists and the television production process. To donate go to http://igg.me/at/nolive .

Preproduction plans are being finalized with the initial location shooting set to begin no later than the week

after Labor Day in September, 2015. Talks are also being finalized for distribution of the program with a local

broadcast network, a national cable network, and several digital distribution platforms under consideration. For

New Orleans Live producers have a track record of successful music shows with the award winning Louisiana Jukebox (1996-2004) reaching an audience of approximately eight million viewers in the southeast region. The program will be produced in front of a live audience and feature three diverse musical acts in practically all musical genres from jazz, blues, cajun, zydeco, hip hop, rock and everything in between. The program will be available worldwide via cable, satellite, and digital distribution platforms.
