Update (April 29, 2015): The deadline to donate money to the Holiday Park Dog Park has been extended the end of May! The fundraising momentum has picked up and the community is so very close to its goal. If you haven’t given money yet, and have some four legged friends that are looking for a local park to run around in, then consider donating. If you have donated, we sincerely thank you for your contribution!
We’ve all noticed the new developments in Fort Lauderdale – Downtown, Flagler Village, Sunrise Blvd. More developments mean more people, and more people mean more pets. Approximately 37-47% of all those new residential developments will own a dog. We all know how much dogs like to walk on concrete and chase balls in parking lots (only kidding) but that is going to be the reality unless we take action. Residents, business leaders, property owners, and developers all have an interest in Fort Lauderdale’s parks – together we can build a park for our four legged friends.
A beautiful, tree filled, 61,000 sq ft. section of Holiday Park has been set aside by the city for the construction of a new dog park. With your contribution we can create the second dog friendly park in Fort Lauderdale open to all residents and administered by the city. All contributions are 100% tax deductible and will go towards creating a 38,515 sq ft. large dog area and a 22,825 sq ft. small dog area with water stations, picnic tables, benches and bike racks.
Your donation is 100% tax deductible as the funds will go directly to the City of Fort Lauderdale and will be set aside in a special Holiday Park Dog Park fund. Thanks to public input, we have elected to extend the donation deadline to accommodate all those interested in donating towards the dog park. We have also updated the location of the dog park. Thank you very much for your support!!
