With your support, we’re making:
THE 1ST EPISODE OF MISS WINN’S GARDEN!
WE HAVE SCRIPT, CAMERA & CREW. NOW WE NEED YOU!
We’re asking you, our community, to help us make the pilot, that is, the very first episode of Miss Winn’s Garden. Every child deserves a loving family. And with Miss Winn’s Garden, we will reintroduce the idea of foster parenting and correct many of the misconceptions circulating about foster children. Your financial support is necessary to take this show from script to screen.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We’re raising $15,000 to make Miss Winn’s Garden. Every donation helps and we have pledge levels from as little as $5 to as much as you can contribute. Each pledge level has its own unique set of thank you gifts that we believe give you back value and that you will enjoy. And because we are a fiscally sponsored project, a good portion of your contribution is tax deductible. You can begin your contribution by clicking one of the pledge amounts on the right side of the page.
WHAT OUR TV SHOW IS ABOUT
Miss Winn’s Garden is the story of a former social worker who is disillusioned by the system but not by the children she’s dedicated to serve. She takes in five young male foster children and uses both patience and love to teach them how to accept their situation. Miss Winn teaches the children how to use available resources to build a life for themselves despite their early setbacks. One of her most useful tools is to have each boy care for a plant whose state mirrors the state of their own lives. As the boys tend their plants, they learn to accept that all living things (including themselves) need love and nurturing to grow and thrive.

———–
I came upon Lucy Fazely’s short film Miss Winn’s Garden in 2008 on inktip.com. I immediately knew that this was a project that I wanted to bring to life. But I was a new director and Lucy was a new writer, and we weren’t ready to make a tv show. Several times over the years, opportunities came up that could have put an end to Lucy’s and my partnership. But I believed in Lucy and she believed in me. We’ve both come a long way in 7 years and are proud to have stuck together to bring you Miss Winn’s Garden!

Lucy first defined herself as a writer in high school after winning a tall tale writing contest. Life has a way guiding us to where we need to be and it took Lucy on a 30 year tangent as a free-lance quilt designer and writer. During those decades she never lost her love of writing fiction and had several romance novels e-published. After her brother’s death, she felt him guide her to take up screenwriting. “Miss Winn’s Garden” was the first screenplay that was requested. That was a few years ago, and in that time Lucy has obtained a certificate in screenwriting through UCLA Extention’s Writer’s Program, had two short films produced and she currently has a feature film in pre-production. “Miss Winn’s Garden” has finally found it’s time to shine. We hope you will join us on this journey!
