The Zone Youth Club, Broadstairs

Project aim

Local youth club with a plan to renovate an old cricket pavilion in our local park so we can provide a daily youth and community cafe.

About the project

The cricket pavilion needs complete renovation – roof, floor, kitchen, toilets, plumbing and electrics, furniture and equipment.  Our youth club currently hires a local venue but we only run one session per week at present.  This project will enable us to not only offer the young people in our area a safe and accessible place to meet daily, but we can also use the venue for all our community as a day time cafe.  We are in the process of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.  The lease on the property is for 20 years.  We have a team of staff including employees and volunteers, and are commissioned by Kent County Council to provide youth services within Broadstairs.  The youth club has been operating successfully for over 10 years, and holds a Quality Mark which demonstrates our professionalism to youth provision. We run Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, play sports and team games, offer support and information, music workshops, trips out – canoeing, theatre, bowling etc, residential weekends and team building activities.
