THE STORY:

~ WATER IS LIFE ~

I recently went to Kenya, Africa as a volunteer and for safari. I hoped to see the Big Five AND was not to be disappointed! I also got to see the Great Migration of wildebeest cross the Mara River. Spectacular does not begin to describe Africa.

What I didn’t expect was the real magic would occur volunteering at the Oloosinon Primary School to complete a cafeteria.

The first of many difficult questions I would ask is, “Why are these children smiling so big and laughing so much when they have so little? They literally had nothing. No electricity, no TP, homes made of cow manure and NO water. The water they did have access to was dirty, shared with animals and over a mile away. The kids I had just spent a few hours with and enjoyed so much, had a bowl of dirty water under their bunk beds from which they bathe and drink from.

Water is Life! When you don’t have it you must spend time to get it. It is at the center of everything. Animals can’t live without it, vegetables don’t grow, people can’t live and children can’t go to school to learn a better way until AFTER they get it. Walking to water everyday so their families and villages can live is why many of the girls don’t get to attend school.

It was at this time I knew I had to do something to help them. If I can give just a little and make an impact, I had to. So September 2015 I will return to the Oloosinon School to make life just a little bit easier for these 700+ children. AND I NEED YOUR HELP!!! Any donation helps. When you brush your teeth or run the dishwasher, water your plants or animals with clean running water or shower think of the children and help make a difference.
