Collegiate Mentors (CM) is an organization that connects highly motivated college students with underprivileged high schools students.
We have partnered with the brightest students at the University of Southern California to truly make a difference in the lives of inner city youth. Our programming features one USC student paired with a local high school student. This connection is based on a common interest, such as Computer Science or Entrepreneurship.
Collegiate Mentors is focused on breaking down the teacher/student binary and creating relationships that inspire the youth of Los Angeles towards success and the realization of their potential. We connect college freshman and freshman in high school so that their relationship can last throughout their respective college and high school experience and in some cases, the rest of their lives.
Our goal is to equip every student with the opportunities and tools they need to attend college and shine. In order to make this goal a reality, we have created programs and a curriculum to empower each student to achieve success. Each mentor will serve as a resource to their high school student by offering the following:
Academic Tutoring College Planning Scholarships SAT/ACT Prep Life Coaching
Through these partnerships, we believe that we can make a difference in the inner city communities of Los Angeles. One relationship at a time we can empower students throughout Los Angeles to reach their full potential.
The primary challenge our organization faces is obtaining a sense of drive and motivation from students at large. We believe our new integrated and long-term strategy will alleviate these issues by creating long standing relationships between students and their CM’s.
