TO HELP FUND A CHOIR MASTER
Boston Stump, known as the tallest parish church in great britain has produced wonderful choral music for 700 years, the position of Musical Director has been funded since 1997 by rent from an old school building that is now up for sale and has been empty for a long period.
The current musical director leaves at the end of may and due to no income to fund the position the church has to wait until funding is in place to recruit somebody new to lead the 2 choirs “Robed Choir” and “St Botolph Singers”, The intention is to raise these funds partly through different charities and other social ideas. however this will take some considerable time, a long term solution is being sought and the intention is to fund the position with grants legacies and donations. in the short term we are looking to raise funds to cover 2 years Salary
The position we need to fill will require a talented individual who will take control of the two choirs and lend his skills to local schools, give time to teach music to less privalaged children, and be involved in community choirs.
Wikkipedia shows some talented musicians that have graced the position of Choir master and Musical Director some of whom have written wonderful choral music to match the magnificence of the building, the potential to see the demise of the Choir and choral tradition at the church would be a huge loss to both the church and the community.
