The University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra has been invited to the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) conference in San Jose, California. The Wind Orchestra was selected through a blind peer-reviewed application, and will be attending the conference from July 13-20, 2015. WASBE is one of the most prestigious international music organizations that is dedicated to the performance, study, and pedagogy of wind band, which makes an invitation to their bi-annual conference extremely humbling and exciting. The ensemble will be partaking in many events while attending the conference, but most importantly they will give two concerts. One will be an official Wind Orchestra performance, and the other an exclusive repertoire session to preview brand new works for wind band.
We are fundraising because we need your help to get to WASBE this summer. However, we know that there are many other great causes out there that are worth donating to; so the Wind Orchestra members voted on our top 4 charities, some of which have affected us personally, and all of which are close to our hearts. Here’s our proposal. Please donate $10 to our fundraiser, and at the same time, click on one of the links we’ve provided and donate $10 to one of these great charities too.

The University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra is an auditioned ensemble that is comprised of approximately forty-five university students, including both music majors and non-music majors. The Wind Orchestra’s success here in Saskatchewan and its recognition on the international stage is a direct result of the student’s commitment to musical excellence, regardless of major. The ensemble performs the highest quality of wind music available, and is committed to promoting new music by composers through commissions and consortiums.
