The stem uses two gaskets for safer water-resistance. Rated at 5 bar, this watch can take an occasional splash.
INTRODUCTION
My name is Francis Jacquerye, I have worked as analyst and designer for the watchmaking industry for the last 10 years. I hold 4 horological patents to my name, and in 2014 I co-founded a consulting studio for watch companies. I am passionate about what I do and besides collecting timepieces, I began working on my own ideas.
With your help, we can bring this unique, three-year battery, Swiss Concept watch to production. It was created to combine our original design with a Swiss-engineered mechanism, at an affordable price. Each watch will be delivered in a nice military-style kraft box and will be covered by a 24 months Limited Warranty.
The funding amount already includes Priority worldwide shipping and funders can choose between 3 different straps:
SPECIFICATIONS
Sized at 39.5 mm (15½”), the case is forged in 316L surgical steel and receives a brushed finishing. Its diameter is perfect for men and not too big for women. Designed for water-resistance to 5 bar (static depth of 50 metre), it uses a hardened mineral crystal with a domed shape, reminiscent of the acrylic crystals of early 20th century military watches.
There are two hidden correctors at 2 and 10 o’clock for the calendar setting, and the pusher at 4 o’clock allows to set the independent time zone display. It can be used to track the time zone of relatives, colleagues; or to simply display military time. We’ll also show you how to use the time zone display as a solar compass.
With broad numerals and luminous marks, the dial takes cues from early 20th century aviator timekeepers.
We sourced the Swiss Super-Luminova compound for the dial and hands. There are various qualities of this compounds but we chose the right balance between performance and reliability. The design also makes up for it by using broad hands and broad numerals, so after a normal exposure to daylight the display remains perfectly readable throughout the night.
The list of goods features three different options: nylon, leather or riveted all-terrain strap. Here are the colors of nylon to choose from: gray, olive, black, sand and orange.
Here are the colors for the leather strap: black, dark brown and saddle.
And the riveted all terrain only comes in one color: brown.
All components of the quartz mechanism are engineered and produced in Switzerland by ISASWISS PLC before assembly in Asian Swiss-grade factories.
The display shows date at 3 o’clock, independent time zone at 6 o’clock, and weekday at 9 o’clock. The battery almost lasts for 3 years.
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
The development process spans over 12 months, and we chose to work through the first 10 months before launching the crowdfunding, which only leaves 2 months before planned mass production.
We have already finalised the design, approved blueprints submitted by suppliers and developed production moulds. Leaning on the experience of our last RocketHub project, we planned ahead of time to avoid any unexpected delays, so we are confident that we will meet the deadline. You can see an updated timeline of this project here.
If the funding is successful, we will launch mass production on the 1st or April 2015, and organise to start shipping items to funders by the 15th of April.
My name is Francis Jacquerye, and after years as senior designer and analyst in the luxury industry, I launched a studio in 2014 to develop and bring new horological products to the market.
I successfully tried my hand at crowdfunding before, with a 2011 limited edition of 50 Tärnan Oceanographer watches that sold out to watch collectors, and a military-inspired chronograph that successfully completed funding here on RocketHub
With the support of backers like yourself, I can use my expertise to produce some of the finest watches at very competitive prices.
